As part of HMRC’s ongoing digital transformation, Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax will soon become a legal requirement for individuals with income from self-employment and/or property.
To help you stay ahead of the curve, we’ve broken down the key implementation dates and some excellent official resources to get you prepared.
When Does MTD Affect You?
Your start date depends on your gross income (turnover) from self-employment and/or property:
- 6 April 2026: If your turnover is over £50,000 in the 2024 to 2025 tax year.
- 6 April 2027: If your turnover is over £30,000 in the 2025 to 2026 tax year.
